MEEKER | Meeker High School’s cross country team competed at Aspen’s Chris Severy Invitational this past Saturday.

Haylee Steele looked strong on the hilly course, finishing the girls’ race in 30:43 for 47th place. Wyatt Rollins, again Meeker’s fastest runner, took 19th place in 21:28. Aidan Tapia and Cameron Hanberg completed the difficult course in 22:54 and 23:40, for 38th and 46th places, respectively.

“All three runners were faster than last year,” said head coach Marty Casey. This was Remy Broussard’s first time running in Aspen, managing the course in 32:34 at 84th place. “Aspen can be a great place to run this time of the year, for the scenery and the temperatures. This race delivered on both,” Casey continued. “Everyone is training hard and running well.” Meeker is competing twice this week, at the Rifle Creek Golf Course late Tuesday, and at the Yampa Valley Golf Course in Craig on Friday, with races there starting at 4:30 p.m.
