Quite a lot of snow fell yesterday and last night, and this morning there were no signs of a let up.

From eighty to one hundred people have died in Leadville since the first of the year. Pneumonia and grip which have been the prevailing diseases are abating to some extent. 

A coal famine is threatened throughout the state on account of miners quitting work.

There has been considerable talk during the past week of the proposed telephone extension from White river to Rangely. It would require about twenty-five miles of line. 

Last Friday night, Glenwood Springs defeated our team in debate. We have only compliments for the work of our opponents. 

Don’t forget, the Old Timer’s dance will be next Thursday night at Rooney Hall.

Colleen Watson of Meeker will be one of 90 participants in the Southwestern-Exposition and Fat Stock Show’s Ranch Girls Invitational Barrel Race at Ft. Worth, Tex., Jan. 30 through Feb. 

Mr. and Mrs. Jim Cook joined Mary Anders in Rifle Sunday for dinner.

Meeker may not have a winning varsity basketball team this year, but they certainly have a lot of heart.

The Chevron Oil Company is offering three $500 scholarships through the Colorado 4-H Foundation.

Nancy Rutherford, who wrote the “Panther News” in 1973-74 is a staff writer for the college newspaper at Adams State.

Members of the Rangely High School Rodeo Club were able to attend the National Stock Show in Denver.

Colorado CattleWomen have named Fran Hill of Rangely “Rookie of the Year.”

Jayne and Steve Coley are very proud parents of their handsome son Harrison Robert, born on November 18th at 1:21 p.m. at St. Mary’s Hospital.

In the Walbridge Wing, Helen Arnold, 82, and Maude Mitchell, 86, celebrated birthdays.
