RIO HAPPENINGS: FEB 8-14, 2026

ARRESTS

2/13/2026- Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 23 year-old female for domestic violence, harassment, criminal mischief and 2nd degree criminal trespass. She was released on a PR bond.

2/13/2026- Meeker PD arrested a 14 year-old male for driving a vehicle while under the influence of alcohol/drugs or both, driving a vehicle without a valid drivers license and possessing an open marijuana container in a motor vehicle. He was issued a summons and released to an adult family member.

2/13/2026- Colorado State Patrol arrested a 20 year-old male for speeding 40+ mph over the speed limit. He was released on a PR bond.

CALL SUMMARIES

2/8/2026 @ 8:10 am. A caller reported a firearm missing from a residence after having people over to look at a television for sale. Law enforcement subsequently conducted a consent search of the suspects’ residence but came up empty-handed. The next day, the reporting party called back to report the firearm had, in fact, been found within their own home.

2/12/2026 @ 4:40 pm. A loose pig was reported wandering in the Sanderson Hills area but was quickly persuaded to return home after the owner produced an apple. The pig complied willingly, proving once again that snacks solve most problems.

2/12/2026 @ 11:15 pm. A backcountry rescue was initiated in the Sand Peak area after a group of snowmobilers became disoriented due to deteriorating weather conditions. Search and Rescue responded promptly and was able to safely assist the group out of the area. We are grateful for the quick response and teamwork that helped ensure everyone’s safe return.

2/13/2026 @ 3:27 am. Rio Blanco County Sheriff responded to a physical domestic on the west side of the county. The male did get hit in the head however refused an ambulance. The female subject was taken into custody.

2/13/2026 @ 9:36 pm. Meeker PD contacted juveniles for being at Sanderson Park after hours. During the contact, the odor of marijuana was present from the running vehicle. Further investigation determined the juvenile driver did not have a valid driver’s license and appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. All parents were notified. The driver was issued a summons and released to the custody of a relative.
