MEEKER | The Ladies Deerfly Scramble filled its field this past weekend, bringing 24 teams to the Meeker Golf Course for a day of competition, community and fundraising.
Tournament organizer Amanda Back said interest in the event remained strong this year, drawing a mix of local players and participants from out of town.
“We had great interest and we had a lot of local ladies and ladies from out of town,” Back said.
The Ladies Deerfly Scramble remains one of the course’s signature women’s events and continues to stand out in the summer lineup.
“It’s a ladies only tournament, which is the only one we hold,” Back said.
Beyond the competition, this year’s tournament also served as a fundraiser for the Meeker High School girls golf program. Participants and supporters contributed through donations, with Back noting strong community involvement throughout the day. Blaine Franklin Financial Services also provided support for the event.
“The ladies had a wonderful time and were very caring about the Meeker High School girls golf team fundraiser,” Back said. “We are so grateful for all the ladies’ donations and to Blaine Franklin Financial Services.”
Preparing for a full field event takes significant planning, and Back said work for this year’s tournament began shortly after last year’s conclusion.
“A lot of preparation,” she said. “They started last year after it concluded to make this year so amazing.”
Course conditions and the efforts of the grounds crew also played a key role in the event’s success, with organizers noting the importance of maintaining a high-quality playing surface that keeps participants returning year after year.
“The impact is great,” Back said. “Our grounds keepers make our golf course so amazing and then it makes it so the ladies want to return.”

From a full field of 24 teams to strong support for the Meeker High School girls golf program, organizers said the Ladies Deerfly Scramble showcased what makes local golf events meaningful in Meeker — competition on the course and community support off it.
