The Durham town mansion is assuming shape under the supervision of Builder Malone and a large force of workmen. When completed it will be the finest home in Meeker. Our old friend Harry French is the architect.
Willie Wear’s horse tried to turn a summersault on Tuesday and in the ensuing contortions the rider sustained a badly lacerated wrist. Willie stood his injuries like a veteran.

Through the courtesy of Mr. J G. Miller state agent and the Meeker Range, local agents for the Universal Lighting Company, the swimming pool on the Meeker dome will have electric lights on the nights of June 27th and July 3rd and 4th.
After two failures in the Tow Creek field, the Texas company seems about to be rewarded with a good producer in the Henry Dennis which was drilling at 2445 feet with 1600 feet of oil in the hole. From all indications the well will be bigger than the Adair discovery well, which has proved to be one of the most consistent shale producers the West has known.

Already two months behind schedule, work began last Wednesday on the latest of Meker’s million dollar plus construction projects, a new junior high school just east of the present senior high complex.
Meeker’s July 2nd-3rd-4th celebration will be the center attraction in Northwestern Colorado as the Range Call Committee puts on the final touches for Colorado’s oldest rodeo.
Meeker’s FFA Chapter was acclaimed the most improved chapter in the Colorado Association of Future Farmers of America during the 48th Annual Convention, held at Mesa College, Grand Junction, June 13-15.

Elliott M. Burke, 47, Rangely’s new chief of police. He succeeds E. W. Long, long-time chief of police here. The new chief has the Colorado’s Police Officer’s certification from Colorado Law Enforcement Academy in Golden and has completed numerous other police-related subjects in various law enforcement schools.
Woodson Rl (Woody) Fisher, 29, has been employed as a patrolman in the Rangely Police Department as of June 9. Previous experience includes 2 ½ years as a patrolman for the Thornton, Colorado Police Department and two years as a deputy sheriff for Adams County.

Everyone in Rangely knows Dawna Wardell. After all, she has been an active member of the community for more than 50 years. She was a ranch wife, raised five children and was and continues to be active in church. But she is best known for those murals gracing many of the buildings and structures in Rangely, depicting wildlife and forests around the area.
Turnout was big for the “grunt workers” of the community planning committee with about 20 regulars and 10 newcomers Tuesday at Kilowatt Korner. They came to participate in the next step of community planning.
The Meeker High School Volleyball team held a successful camp last week at the high school. Ron Alexander, an assistant coach at the University of Northern Colorado, was the clinician. Approximately 30 players attended the camp.
