The Rangely Junior High football team had an impressive win over the Soroco Rams Sept. 22.

The Rangely Panthers Junior High football team came off their bye with an impressive team win against the Soroco Rams in Oak Creek on Thursday, Sept. 22. The Panthers withstood a good opening drive by the Rams and stopped the Rams on a fourth and goal from the Panthers 3 yard line. The Panthers put themselves on the scoreboard with a 32 yard run by eighth grade quarterback Anthony Lujan. Seventh grade running back Zane Varner punched in the two-point conversion. On the following drive the Panthers were able to force a Soroco turnover on downs on the next possession. On the ensuing drive, Lujan hit eighth grade tight end Gabe Polley for a 39 yard touchdown pass and a two-point conversion was good by running back Zane Varner. The Panthers defense stifled the Soroco Rams throughout the first half of the football game and went into halftime leading 24-0. In the second half the Panthers were able to keep the shutout running for the defense and keep the Rams offense at bay. Seventh grade Keihlin Myers kept up the scoring for the Panthers as he scampered 27 yards on a reverse to the right side of the field and put the Panthers up 32-0 after Varner punched in another two-point conversion. Eighth grade full back Ryan Richens scored the final touchdown for the Panthers as he ran a 2 yard drive to the right side which gave the final score for the game with the Panthers coming out on top 40-0. The Panthers take on the North Park Wildcats in Walden on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 11 a.m. The Rangely Jr. High Panthers football team would like to thank everyone in the community for their support at both the home and away games. Your support is the best that any team in the nation can ask for.
