Area players receive postseason honors

MEEKER | Stacey Fitzgibbons, a senior at Meeker High School was recently honored by being selected to play in two all-state basketball games.
“It shows what kind of athlete she is and how hard she works,” Meeker girls’ basketball coach Hallie Blunt said of Fitzgibbons’ post-season honors.
Fitzgibbons was selected to play in the Colorado Coaches of Girls Sports all-state games March 27 and 28. Sixteen girls from each classification are selected to play and also includes scrimmages against the other four classifications.
Fitzgibbons was also chosen by member coaches of the Colorado High School Coaches Association to play in the all-state games this coming June, which combines all-stars from all classifications.
Fitzgibbons was named the co-MVP of the Northwest League, along with Jordan Rinks of the state champion Paonia Eagles. Fitzgibbons averaged 17 points per game, 11.7 rebounds and scored the fourth most points (379) in Colorado’s 2A classification.
“You don’t usually see high school girls getting double/doubles (10 or more points/rebounds) and Stacey did it all but four or five games this season,” Blunt said.

Rangely’s Patrick Phelan was named first-team all-conference and was chosen to play in a boys’ all-state game. Adam Dahl was named honorable mention all-conference for the Panthers.
