More than 25 Meeker Elementary School kids, parents, family members and even pets showed up Saturday to run/walk a 5K, as part of MES teacher Vicky Tate’s physical education class and 100 Mile Club program.

Meeker volunteer coach Karen Dinwiddie breaks a huddle of her fifth- and sixth-grade girls’ basketball team, which played two games Saturday in the Meeker Elementary School gymnasium. The team split games with two different Rifle teams and is currently 2-1 this season.

The Barone Middle School boys’ basketball program will host Rangely Middle School tonight starting at 5 p.m.

The Meeker FFA Chapter, one of the largest student organizations at MHS with more than 75 members, brought Donkey Basketball to Meeker for some “good family entertainment,” according to Trina Smith. Smith said the funds raised will be used to provide scholarships and other educational opportunities for chapter members.
Lange, Eskelson compete at cross country state
MEEKER I Caleb Lange, a senior at Meeker High School, and MHS freshman Julia Eskelson represented their school and town at the 2013 Colorado State Cross Country Championships in Colorado Springs on Saturday.
Cowboys lose final game of the season to Bulldogs
MEEKER I An injured Meeker football team lost their final game of the season in Starbuck Stadium on Friday to the Hotchkiss Bulldogs 28-0, finishing the season with a 5-4 record.
Panthers lose playoff game in Kiowa
RANGELY I The Rangely Panther football team ended its season in the first round of the Colorado State 8-Man playoffs Friday with a 40-14 loss to the Indians in Kiowa.
