RANGELY I College officials, local dignitaries and the Rector family were on hand Thursday for the dedication of the refurbished and enlarged Rector Science Building on the campus of Colorado Northwestern Community College in Rangely.

Rio Blanco County unemployment rate continues to drop
RBC I A positive trend that started early this year is continuing as the June unemployment rates in Rio Blanco and Colorado have reported at least the fifth consecutive month where the number of jobless has decreased, the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment is reporting.

From My Window… Septemberfest a great time; Meeker Classic in progress
The summer activities continue in Rio Blanco County, and the focus this past weekend was Septemberfest in Rangely. Septemberfest is three days of fun activities, good food, water and mud, a parade, great entertainment, an ice cream social and an impressive car show.

One of the events held at the Saturday celebration of 50 Years of Wilderness in downtown Meeker was log sawing. Above, the two-person teams of U.S. Forest Service workers squared off against each other, and the women’s team, in front, defeated the men.
