 Barone Middle School girls basketball teams shine in weekend games

MEEKER | The Barone Middle School 7th and 8th grade basketball teams hosted several games at Meeker High School last Saturday.

The 8th grade B team opened the day with a 24-11 victory over Craig’s B team. Tacey Toon led the Cowboys with 13 points, followed by Jordyn Garcia with 6 points. Alexandria Trout and Sophia Moody contributed 2 points each.

In their second game, the 8th grade B team defeated Sleeping Giant’s B team 22-16. Garcia led the charge with 8 points, while Trout added 6 points. Toon scored 4, and Moody and Tinlie Strate each chipped in 2 points.

The 8th grade A team also had a strong showing, starting with a 43-18 win over Craig’s A team. Raegan Clatterbaugh dominated with 31 points, supported by Cienna Rogers with 6 points, Kinnley Smith with 4 points, and Hattie Brennan with 2 points.

In their second game, the 8th grade A team overwhelmed Soroco with a decisive 50-9 victory. Clatterbaugh once again led the scoring with 26 points. Rogers added 13 points, Smith contributed 10 points, while Midy Carmargo and Brennan scored 7 and 4 points, respectively.

The 7th grade team played three games on Saturday, winning all three. They started the day with a 37-7 win over Sleeping Giant’s A team. Graysie Coryell led the Cowboys with 13 points, followed by Cora Lewis with 12 points, Addi Shonk with 10 points, and Harper Ducey with 2 points.

In their second game, the 7th grade team defeated Soroco 39-10. Coryell again led with 12 points, Shonk added 9 points, Lewis scored 8 points, and Ducey and LeBlanc each contributed 4 points. Padilla chipped in with 2 points.

In their final game, the 7th grade team beat Sleeping Giant’s B team. Coryell led with 8 points, while Padilla, Ducey, and Shonk each added 4 points. Lewis contributed 2 points.

This weekend, the Barone Middle School girls basketball teams will travel to Soroco to compete in the A tournament, with games beginning at 9 a.m. Good luck to both teams, and as always, go Cowboys!
