BMS cross country runs at West Grand

MEEKER I The Barone Middle School cross country team had its first meet of the season on Saturday at West Grand (Kremmling). It was a great course to start their season with trails and several puddles. Most of the runners chose to go through the largest of puddles which was waist-deep.

All runners had set a goal for a time to beat, and each of them met their goal. Sam Smithers and Brad Nielsen ran most of the race together, pushing each other until the very end. Smithers finished third with a time of 18:17.9 and Nielsen finished right behind him in fourth place with a time of 18:22.0. Cameron Hanberg finished in seventh place with a time of 21:41.

The girls also had a great race with Dawn Arnold having to sprint at the end to hold her fourth place position with a time of 18:52.8. Skylar Grimes completed the girls’ team with a ninth place finish in 21:07.0.

“I am so very proud of all of the runners and look forward to our meet Saturday in Craig,” said head coach Kris Casey.
