Girl Scouts seek members, volunteers

MEEKER | The Girl Scouts of America in Meeker is still accepting applications for girls and volunteers. Girls to join the scouts and volunteers who will help out and who are wanting more information are asked to contact Cheryl Mohr at 878-3798.

Perhaps eating leaves helps deer build strong bodies, but between these three bucks there are at least 22 antler points, not counting brow tines. The three big bucks were spotted this past weekend eating the leaves of a tree that had been downed by lightning or high winds in Meeker.

MEEKER I The Meeker High School cross country team traveled to Grand Junction again for the Grand Junction High School Tiger Invitational meet Friday and they made improvements.

Girl Scouts holding car wash

MEEKER | The Meeker Girl Scout Troop will hold a car wash on Saturday in an effort to raise funds to cover travel expenses to take food supplies to the flood victims in the Denver metropolitan area.

A large number of quilts were on display at the PEO Quilt Show on Friday and Saturday at the old Meeker elementary school downtown.

Obituary: George Sutton

George W. Sutton of Apache Junction, Ariz., passed away at hospice in Mesa, Ariz. on Sept. 3, 2013. His death was due to complications from a brain tumor.
