Screenings coming to Meeker

MEEKER I Residents living in and around Meeker can be screened to reduce their risk of having a stroke or bone fracture. Life Line screenings will be held at the Rio Blanco County Fairgrounds on Oct. 17, 2012.

RBC I The Rio Blanco County Historical Society had their quarterly meeting Sunday and 27 people showed up to enjoy the Cowboy Heritage theme.

Middle Elk fire area closed

MEEKER I The Middle Elk Fire on the Blanco Ranger District is located some 30 miles north of New Castle, Colo., to the west of the Buford New Castle Road at Hiner Springs. For safety reasons the area of the fire remains closed at this time.

Meeker High School juniors Dylan Mobley and Mariah Jensen were crowned king and queen for the 2012 homecoming. Seniors Anne George and Scott Smith were first attendants and Jeremy Musgrave and Linda Olivas were second attendants.
