MEEKER I The Lady Cowboy volleyball team lost two Western Slope League matches last week and will play two more this weekend, including a home match, honoring parents and Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Saturday afternoon.

Meeker girls split with league foes last week
MEEKER I For a second week in a row, the Meeker High School varsity volleyball team split matches, played against league opponents. Meeker lost to the West Grand Mustangs in Kremmling last Friday before defeating the Eagles in Paonia the following day.
Lady Cowboys push champs to five games
MEEKER I “We played much, much better,” Meeker volleyball coach Christy Atwood said of her team’s matches in Hayden last Saturday. The Lady Cowboys lost to the host team in a non-league game, before pushing the defending league champions to five games in a losing effort.

MEEKER I Overall, it wasn’t the season the Lady Cowboys hoped for, but at the end, they were playing their best volleyball. “The ending is always bittersweet when you’re not on top,” said coach Christy Atwood. “But, unlike a lot of teams, we finished our season with a win.”
