MEEKER I For the first time in four years, there is a new Meeker Men’s Club champion, a title that now belongs to Lex Collins. And Peggy Back is the 2016 Meeker Women’s Club champion.
Eskelson eighth in MHS cross-country
MEEKER I The Meeker High School cross-country team traveled to Crown Mountain Park in Basalt on Saturday for the team’s opening meet. Participation at the Longhorn Invitational has increased, doubling the number of runners from the previous year.

Meeker Cowboys hold golf play but getting ready for football
MEEKER I The Meeker High School football team was the host of the annual Cowboy Kickoff Classic golf tournament, and the Cowboys will open the season Friday on the road in Ault against the Highland Huskies.
County high school sports begin
RBC I Rangely High School students were back in the classroom on Aug. 15 while Meeker students started Monday. Practice of fall sports officially started Aug. 15, and three days later, Rangely’s golf team was already competing.
Coed softball league crowns new champion
MEEKER I After two months of scheduled games and a double-elimination tournament, a new champion was crowned in the 2016 Coed Softball league, sponsored by the ERBM Recreation and Parks District. Six teams started the 2016 Coed Softball season and three finished the tournament.
Meeker Marlins swim team competes well at High Country championship
Meeker I The Meeker Marlin swimmers, an ERBM Recreation and Park District program, competed at the High Country Swim League Championship Meet at the Eagle Pool and Ice Rink in Eagle on July 29, and several of the swimmers did Meeker proud.
Cowboy Kickoff Classic golf tournament slated for Aug. 20
MEEKER I Many Meeker football players have been lifting weights, playing catch and attending camps this summer, in preparation of the upcoming high school season.
Free sports physicals at PMC on Aug. 11
MEEKER I Free sports physicals will be offered by Pioneers Medical Center on Thursday, Aug. 11 from 5-7 p.m. at Pioneers Medical Center Clinic.
