MEEKER I It was a record-breaking weekend for the Barone Middle School track team. The eighth-grade girls’ 400-meter relay and 800-meter relay teams set school records.
Rangely boys win Panther Invitational
RANGELY I For the second year after a several-year hiatus, Yeager Field in Rangely was the site for the Panther Invitational track meet Saturday, where the boys’ home team won the meet and the girls’ team, comprised of just five girls, finished second.
Rodeo team nets honors
RANGELY I The Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) rodeo team made its mark in more ways than one at the last rodeo of the season, Mesa University’s Maverick Stampede and at the Rocky Mountain Regional awards ceremony over the weekend.
Wrestlers do well in Hayden
RANGELY I The Rangely youth wrestling team continued its success in Hayden on Saturday with 20 kids wrestling, including 13 in the championship match. Many of the young Panthers will be in Meeker on Saturday for the Casey Turner Memorial Tournament.
Cowboys run, jump and throw in two track meets
MEEKER I With a “somewhat shorthanded” team the Meeker High School track team competed in two meets last weekend and several of the athletes attending did well.
Panthers take out Cowboys, twice
RBC I On Saturday, the Meeker baseball team played what was supposed to be the first home games of the season against the Rangley Panthers, but the games were moved to Rangley after the Meeker fields were subject to rain and snow.
Young wrestlers travel to Hayden
RBC I The Meeker Youth wrestlers traveled to Hayden on Saturday to compete in what turned out to be their toughest competition so far. Twenty-two kids entered the tournament with 17 wresting in the morning session, which includes ages 8 and under, 6 and under and 4 and under divisions.
RHS to host invite Saturday
RANGELY I “Even though we are dealing with injuries and illnesses, the athletes who are healthy are really stepping it up, which makes me proud,” Panthers head track coach Stephanie Kahler said of her team’s performances over the weekend in Coal Ridge and Glenwood Springs.
Rangely youth wrestlers do well in Craig
RBC I The Rangely Panthers youth wrestling team traveled to Craig last Saturday for the Levi Weber Memorial Tournament with 27 wrestlers. They returned from Moffat County with all placing in the top four.
