CNCC basketball teams end strong
RANGELY I Despite a season beset by loss and injury, the Colorado Northwestern Community College (CNCC) men’s basketball team finished the season strong at the Scenic West Athletic Conference (SWAC) tournament in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, last month.

MEEKER I The Meeker Youth Basketball boys’ season is coming to an end with the last games scheduled this week. The program was a huge success this year with approximately 21 participants in the fifth- and sixth-grade division and 19 in the third- and fourth-grade division.

Based on outstanding sportsmanship, leadership and character on and off the court, the Yampa Valley Basketball Officials Association, represented by Rick Murr, John Whinery and Ryan Duran, presented Meeker senior Kaysyn Chintala with the 2012-2013 sportsmanship award after the final regular season game.

MEEKER I The Meeker High School boys’ basketball team were district runner-ups, advancing them to the regional tournament again this year.

MEEKER I After two outstanding victories during the weekend, the Meeker girls’ basketball team roped the championship title at the District Five tournament in Paonia. It has been 17 years since a Meeker girls’ basketball team has won the district championship.
Lady Panthers advance to Region 4 tournament
RANGELY I The lady Panthers’ basketball team will play the Wray Eagles in Denver this Friday in the Region 4 tournament after playing two games in the district tournament last weekend in Paonia. Head coach Quinton Kent is excited about his team’s post-season opportunity.
