MHS Cowboys taken down by Grand Valley Cardinals
MEEKER I The 2012 Meeker Cowboys took a hit Friday night, both by the score (6-49) and the injury bug. The visiting Grand Valley Cardinals allowed the ‘Boys an opening touchdown drive and then shut down the Meeker 11 from the end zone the rest of the night.
RHS cross country headed to Basalt
RANGELY I Rangely opened up its cross country season by traveling to Colorado Springs last Friday to participate in the Cheyenne Mountain Stampede, a highly competitive meet held at the Norris Penrose Event Center.

MEEKER I The Meeker girls’ volleyball team started its season well, playing in the extremely competitive Glenwood Springs tournament consisting of five pools made up of teams ranging in classification from 2A to 5A.

RANGELY I After more than a year of preparation and another year operating at half-strength, Colorado Northwestern Community College rodeo will field a complete team at this year’s National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) competitions.

RANGELY I The Rangely High School football team will start a new season, in a new league, playing a new game: eight-man football.
MHS Cowboy football team takes opener 27-0
MEEKER I The 2012 Cowboys opened the season with a 27-0 victory over the visiting Grand Junction J.V. team. The Black and Gold were led by a defense that played exceptionaly well, limiting the opponent to only 24 yards total offense and four first downs.
Eight volleyball seniors will lead Lady Panthers
RANGELY I Eight seniors will lead the lady Panther volleyball team this year. After two weeks of practice, the team will travel to Montrose this Saturday for a scrimmage before opening the season the following week in Glenwood Springs.

The cheerleading squad at Meeker High School has started its second year as an unfunded sport. The lack of funding has not affected enthusiasm or the number of girls out cheering for the Cowboys.
