RANGELY I The Del Norte Tigers, more than six hours from the south-central part of the state for their first game in the 8-man division, played the hometown Rangely Panthers and were sent on a long trip home after a 30-26 defeat.

Rangely distance runners open season in heavy rain, mud
RANGELY I The Rangely High School cross-country team kicked off its season on the rainy and muddy trails at the Central Warrior Invitational in Grand Junction on Saturday.

The Rangely High School golf team has already played in three tournaments, including one at Redlands Mesa in Fruita and in Rifle on Wednesday.

The lights will be on at Yeager Field this Friday, when the Rangely High School Panthers host the Del Norte Tigers. Head coach Paul Fortunato is excited about the season.
Volleyball begins…
Although the Rangely High School volleyball team does not have a match scheduled until the end of August, the team started practice Monday, a week before the start of the school year.
Rifle golfers control outcome
RANGELY I Eighteen couples, including many from other Western Slope towns and Vernal, Utah, played in the annual Couples Classic on Cedar Ridges Golf Course last weekend, and Rangely couples were well represented in the two-day event.
