Five county runners qualify for state meet

Cowboys lasso Panthers

RBC — The Rio Blanco county championship is annually one of the best games of the year for both Meeker and Rangely. This year the Meeker Cowboys scored seven touchdowns and two two-point conversions while holding the host Panthers to just seven points to win the game 46-7.

RMS v-ball ends regular season

RANGELY — The RMS volleyball teams ended their regular season on Saturday playing at home against the Meeker Cowboys. In the eighth-grade gym, RMS started out strong, winning game one of the A-match, 25-22.

Rangely hosts Meeker Friday

RANGELY — The Panthers struggled again this week against the Hayden Tigers. Hayden defended its homecoming with a 47-7 win over Rangely. Hayden scored on three passes and four runs.

Panthers swamped by ’dogs

RANGELY — Lightning struck very close to the field in Hotchkiss about a half-hour prior to kickoff but that was the only event that disrupted the Bulldog’s homecoming game.

Panthers claw Grand Junction

RANGELY — The Rangely Panther football team got its first win of the season last Thursday against the Grand Junction Tigers. Rangely had a very nice day in the air with 303 passing yards to six receivers including one offensive lineman.

Panthers lose but show improvement

RANGELY — The Panther football team improved in a couple of areas last Friday against the 2A Coal Ridge Titans. The Panthers fell to the Titans 41-14, so they still have several areas to work on, but this was the best the team has looked this season.
