MEEKER — Upcoming Meeker High School senior Marki Cook participated in the inaugural State Games of the West held in Colorado Springs on Saturday, July 26. The United States Olympic committee sponsors these games to promote sports throughout the United States. Athletes from 13 western states, some college bound, were in attendance. Marki competed in the 100-meter dash. She was in the 17-18 age bracket against 23 other sprinters. Marki was successful and placed first in a very close race.
