Cowboy wrestling kicks off season at CMU Duals

MEEKER |  The Meeker High School boys’ wrestling team kicked off their season at the CMU Duals in Grand Junction, Colorado, last weekend. The Cowboys brought eight wrestlers and competed in five duals, finishing with a 3-2 record.

In the first round, Meeker defeated Coal Ridge High School 36-15. After a bye in the second round, they faced North Fork High School, falling 71-10. Round four saw another loss to Grand Junction High School, 48-30. The Cowboys rallied in the final rounds, defeating Olathe High School 35-30 and Grand Valley High School 42-18.

Senior Cade Blunt led the team with a perfect 5-0 record. “I did pretty good! I didn’t give up any takedowns, and it was nice to get the rust off. The team did good; they all looked super tough, and our younger guys are looking good,” Blunt said.
