With the tournament being held in Steamboat Springs the Cowboys battled Smoking Giant (Steamboat) by four points in overtime 37-33. The most exciting play of the game was when Said Rodriguez hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to send the game into overtime. With this being their final game of the season, the Cowboys rode through and added to their reign. The eighth grade B team also won their end of the season tournament. They beat Craig in overtime for a big win, and learned how to press aggressively and find good open shots. This group of eighth grade boys has had tremendous success in middle school athletics, winning the end of the season basketball tournament in both seventh and eighth grade. They were only defeated once during middle school, boding well for their athletic careers in high school next fall.

The Meeker boys eighth grade basketball championship team includes Cason Dillon, Trent Sanders, Heriberto Lopez, Wesley Thompson, Carlos Carillo, Said Rodriguez, Tucker Chinn, Cade Mills and Landon Robinson. This is the second year the team has won the district title.
