Please take the opportunity to come together with friends and neighbors at the Ashes to Action gathering on November 1 as we reflect on all our community has been through — and all we continue to rebuild together.
We’ll hear updates from several organizations working hard to restore our infrastructure, natural resources, and local economy; including Colorado Parks and Wildlife, White River Electric Association, the Meeker Chamber of Commerce, the White River and Douglas Creek Conservation Districts, and Rio Blanco County — along with the US. .Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management (pending resolution of the federal government shutdown).
After the updates, enjoy a bowl of chili, ask questions, and catch up with friends.
Bring your photos of the fires to share with the Rio Blanco Historical Society — the keepers of our collective experience — and please consider bringing a side dish or something to share. We’ll provide the chili, and the Lions Club will offer a cash bar.
Ashes to Action is a community gathering to share information and support — not a fundraiser. However, we want to extend special thanks to Smoking River Brewery and all who volunteered at Oktoberfest, helping raise an impressive $16,569 for the Yampa Valley Community Foundation’s Lee & Elk Wildfire Recovery Fund.
From midnight livestock evacuations to grassroots fundraisers — thank you for showing up, supporting one another, and continuing to turn ashes into action.
