RANGELY I “Things just keep getting better for our CNCC (Colorado Northwestern Community College) rodeo team members,” head coach Jed Moore said Monday.
Several incoming CNCC freshmen competed at the National High School Finals Rodeo in Rock Springs, Wyo., this past weekend, including bareback rider Dax Koskie from Cortez, Colo.; team roper/tie-down roper Brody Adams of St. George, Utah; and Carly Hibbs of Prineville, Ore.
Adams led the charge with a national championship in team roping, a top-20 finish in the tie-down roping and a Reserve National All-Around title.
Adams will be rejoining last year’s roping partner, Clay Crozier, at CNCC this fall.
Carly Hibbs stepped up against a field of more than 120 goat-tying specialists and finished 11th in the nation. Hibbs and her twin sister, Courtney, will be helping the CNCC women’s team make waves this year.
Koskie placed in the first round of competition but was bucked off in the second round, eliminating him from a final round appearance. He will be one of four Colorado freshmen joining the team this fall, Moore said.
