PUBLIC NOTICE
CUT AND REMOVE WEEDS
Meeker Municipal Code Sections 8.20.104 and 8.20.105 requires that owners of land within the Town or any agent in charge of such property are required to cut and remove the weeds and brush, including weeds that have grown along alleys and in the public right-of-way adjacent to such property.
Weeds and brush must be maintained to a length no greater than a height of 12 inches at all times. A written notice may be served upon the owner or agent if not complied with by the 20th of June, the owner may be cited and required to appear in Municipal Court or the Town will cut the weeds and assess a tax lien against the property in which the weeds and brush have been removed.

NOTICE OF PROPOSED DECISION
The Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety proposes to approve Permit Renewal Application No. 7 (RN-7), submitted by Blue Mountain Energy, Inc for a coal mining permit at the Deserado Mine (Permit No. C-1981-018). The proposed renewal will allow for continued mining and/or reclamation operations at the site.
The Deserado Mine is a/an underground operation located in Moffat, Rio Blanco County, approximately 7 miles Northeast of Rangely, Colorado. Coal interest is federal, and the surface to be affected is federal and private land. The permit area encompasses approximately 13,645.01 acres.
This proposed decision is based on a finding that the proposed operation will comply with all requirements of the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act, Section 3433101 et seq., C.R.S., and the regulations promulgated thereunder.
A copy of the “Proposed Decision and Findings of Compliance”, including any stipulations, is on file for public inspection at the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety, Room 215 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado 80203, and at the Moffat County Clerk and Recorder, 221 W Victory Way, Craig, CO 81625; Rio Blanco County Clerk and Recorder, 500 Main Street, Meeker, CO 81641. Persons with an interest that may be adversely affected by the proposed decision may request a formal hearing before the Mined Land Reclamation Board on the proposed decision. Such request must be made within thirty (30) days of the initial publication of this notice, must be in writing, and must state with reasonable specificity the reasons for the request and the objections to the proposed decision.

RIO BLANCO COUNTY BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT HEARING
Notice is hereby given that on Tuesday July 23, 2019, the Board of County Commissioners, sitting as the Rio Blanco County Board of Adjustment, will hold a public hearing beginning at 1:15 p.m. at the Rio Blanco County Historic Courthouse, 555 Main Street, 3rd Floor Commissioner’s Board Room, Meeker, Colorado, to consider the following:
Kortney Dunkle VAR-0001-19. Mr. Dunkle is requesting a setback variance from his lot’s current Leisure Recreation zoning front yard setback requirement of 30 feet to 19.1 feet in order to build a cabin on the small lot. The subject property is located at 1983 County Road 12, Meeker, Colorado on Lot 4, Block 1 of Mountain View Subdivision, in a Portion of Tract 45, T1N, R90W, of the 6th P.M.

2019 RIO BLANCO COUNTY ROAD 101 AND COLO BUILDING PARKING SURFACE IMPROVEMENT PROJECT
NOTICE is hereby given that on the 25th day of June, 2019 at Meeker, Colorado, final settlement will be authorized by the Rio Blanco County Board of County Commissioners with United Companies of Mesa County of 2273 River Rd, Grand Junction, CO 81505 for all work done by said CONTRACTOR on the project known as 2019 Rio Blanco County Road 101 and COLO Building Parking Surface Improvement Project.
1) Any person, co-partnership, association, or corporation who has an unpaid claim against the said project may at any time, up to and including the date specified in item 2 below, file a VERIFIED STATEMENT of the amount due and unpaid on account of such claims.
2) All such claims shall be filed with Van Pilaud, County Engineer, Rio Blanco County Road & Bridge Department, 570 2nd Street, Meeker, Colorado 81641 on or before end of business on June 24, 2019.
3) Failure on the part of a creditor to file such a statement will relieve Rio Blanco County from any and all liability for such claim.

Jace Mobley was named Player of the Western Slope League and all-conference, Ryan Sullivan all-conference, Jonathon Fitzgibbons all-conference, Ethan Quinn honorable mention all-conference, Jacob Simonsen honorable mention all conference. Mobley will play in All State games. Coach Klark Kindler was named Western Slope Coach of the Year. Left to right: Bryan Rosas, Simonsen, Quinn, Fitzgibbons, Mobley and Sullivan.

  • Mormon crickets have hatched near Rangely. They were all sighted on BLM land north of Hwy. 64 near the junction of CR 96 and CR 1, down a dirt road near the Moffat County line.  The picture shown was taken yesterday by Mary Meinen from Rangely. She says the crickets are about the size of a ladybug (less than 1/2”). Some of them are actually yellow in color but most of them are darker. They are milling around and getting ready to start moving soon. Note: Photo is not to scale.
Rio Blanco County and the White River and Douglas Creek Conservation Districts are still asking for your help to identify additional hatch-outs of crickets so that control efforts can be put in place. The success of the program will highly depend upon local landowners and the public helping to locate crickets as soon as they hatch.  See last week’s paper for a list of ways to help or contact the County Weed & Pest District at 970-878-9670 or the Conservation District office at 970-878-9838 with any questions.
