Letter to the Editor: Preview of Rangely’s Christmasfest

Dear Editor:
Our theme this year for Christmasfest is Around the World Christmas and we want to get the community involved this year in all of the festivities. To assist the business owners we want to amp up the local shopping. Our plan to achieve this is to have all businesses who participate in the scavenger hunt to offer prizes, such as a percentage off sale prices in the participating businesses beginning on Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, from 5-8 p.m. through the Christmasfest weekend, which will run through Dec. 11. Please feel free to give me any suggestions or complaints about this event. Due to this being my first year in charge, I am open to all feedback!
♦ Santa at the North Pole (Elks Club)
♦ Nativity Christmas play (all ages are welcome)
♦ Crowning of the senior king and queen
♦ Christmas tree lighting on Main Street by a child before the parade
♦ Sleigh ride
♦ Parade of Lights
♦ Chili and hot chocolate (after the parade) where people can take pictures with the floats
♦ Main Street decoration contest (businesses only)
♦ Light-up Rangely contest (residential houses only)
♦ Snowflake baby contest (ages newborn to 36 months)
♦ Scavenger hunt/Christmas shopping event
♦ Gingerbread house and gingerbread man contest
♦ After the parade party
Thanks to all for making Rangely such an amazing place to live and I am looking forward to making this Christmas one to remember! As I find out more information, you will be the first to know!
