The S3DA Colorado Triple Crown Series was held in Grand Junction where youth needed to attend three of four shoots to win a buckle. The Meeker Arrowbusters held their ground as they all showed improvement and many left with awards. Auri Murray, Lee Kirkpatrick and Heath Bennet all placed Reserve Champions. Eli Bennett earned an all-around champion buckle. Eli also won a Perseverance Award due to overcoming a health issue.
Last week Auri Murray won the CSAA spring indoor, setting a new record, and was also recognized for setting a new record at the winter indoor in January. Jemma Bair placed second and Brighton Bair placed third in their classes.
Coaches for S3DA also competed and David Murray earned second place in his class and Dan Bair placed in the top five in his class. Auri has also placed first in the National Archery Scholarship Tour — eight shoots held across the nation including Hawaii and Alaska. Auri competed in Salt Lake City.
This Saturday, March 16, Meeker archers will compete at the CO S3DA Indoor State tournament, and the following weekend will compete at the S3DA National Indoor Tournament in Salt Lake City.
Meeker Youth Archery/S3DA practices every Wednesday evening in the 4-H building until the weather permits moving outside, for more info stop by or contact Dave Murray at 970-618-4300.
