MHS cross country competes at Moffat County Invitational

MEEKER | Meeker cross country competed at the Moffat County Invitational at Loudy-Simpson Park in Craig Saturday. In the girls’ race, Haylee Steele ran her best time this season of 27:57, taking 57th place. Abby Amick finished in 70th place, achieving a new personal record (PR) of 34:11.  

Wyatt Rollins was the first Cowboy runner to finish in the boys’ race, placing 13th overall at 19:07. Brad Conrado set a new PR of 19:42 at 24th place. Cameron Hanberg, our third runner this week, took 31st place with a new PR of 20:30. Ashton Tapia PR’d as well, at 20:45 and 37th. Aidan Tapia had a bit of a slow start, but turned up the pace throughout the race to finish in 39th place at 20:53. Ryan Hanberg was three places behind at 21:13. Haydyn Massey ran the course in 22:23 for a 57th place finish. Kyran Kracht set a new PR of 30:40 at 77th. Lucas Robinson took 79th at 31:34, and Asa Scofield was 80th at 33:23.  

“This meet is known for excellent competition, and this year was more of that.” said coach Marty Casey.  “We had some great racing from our kids, and five new best times to show for it.  We are looking forward to the last half of the season!”  

The Cowboys will compete in the Pantherfest meet at Confluence Park in Delta on Friday, with races scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.

Haylee Steele had her best time of the season at Loudy-Simpson Park in Craig last Saturday. The team heads to Delta on Friday.
