MEEKER | MHS cross country ran at the Yampa Valley Golf Course on Friday at the Whistle Pig Invitational, co-hosted by Moffat County and Steamboat Springs high schools. “The forecast did not look favorable, but a chill wind was the only weather issue we had,” said coach Marty Casey. “We had sun, cool temperatures, and great competition.”
The boys raced first, and Bradley Conrado was the Cowboys’ top finisher, matching his previous personal record (PR) of 19:06, for 21st place. Wyatt Rollins, still battling to stay healthy, took 24th at 19:26. Ryan Hanberg was 28th place at 19:41, a new PR by more than 20 seconds. His brother Cameron was close behind; 19:50 for 31st. Aidan Tapia finished in 40th place at 20:31, with brother Ashton at 21:12, nine places back. Haydyn Massey finished in 21:40 for 55th place. Lucas Robinson continues to improve this season, setting a new PR of 27:59 for 76th. sa Scofield took 79th place at 33:13.
Haylee Steele was our only runner in the girls’ race this week, finishing in 51st place at 27:45. Meeker will be back at Confluence Park in Delta on Friday for the Regional competition, with the girls racing at 12 p.m. and the boys at 1 p.m.
