MEEKER | Delta’s Pantherfest was held on Friday, Sept. 29 with Meeker in attendance. This course, known for being flat and fast, attracted 20 high school teams.
Meeker’s Haylee Steele posted a new season-best time of 26:05, only a few seconds off of her personal record (PR) of 26:01 from this same course last year.
In the boys’ varsity race, Wyatt Rollins continues his return from injury as Meeker’s fastest this week, 19:10 and 46th place. Aidan Tapia set a new PR with his 60th place finish of 19:41. Cameron Hanberg PR’d again this week at 21:29, for 85th place. Remy Broussard finished in 24th place in the junior varsity race, achieving a new PR of 28:37.
“This course is commonly referred to as ‘The Delta Speedway,’ and for good reason,” said head coach Marty Casey. “Everyone expects good times and great competition. We saw the hard work pay off with season-best times from every runner. Haylee did so by nearly a minute. Aidan PR’d with his first sub-20 time. Cameron knocked off another 1:20, and Remy was more than 2 minutes better than his previous best. Wyatt is running low 19’s in only his second meet back. Great effort all around, and I am proud and excited for every one of them!”
Meeker will compete in Aspen on Saturday, with high school races starting at 10:15 a.m.
