MEEKER | Cowboy cross country traveled to Delta for Pantherfest 2024 this past Friday. Informally known as the “Delta Speedway,” the course at Confluence Park draws a large field of runners and some exceptional competition.
The girls’ race had Haylee Steele and Abby Amick finishing in 155th and 185th places, at 26:55 and 32:57, respectively. Amick’s time was a new personal record.
Wyatt Rollins was Meeker’s lead runner again this week, with a season-best time of 18:34 and 41st place. In 60th place, Bradley Conrado set a new PR of 19:13. Cameron Hanberg was four places behind at 19:31 — a new PR by nearly a minute. Aidan Tapia was the third Cowboy to the finish line and 79th overall, with his season-best 19:58. Ashton Tapia was 10 places back, achieving a new PR of 20:16. Haydyn Massey and Ryan Hanberg set new PRs as well at 20:49 and 20:52, and 102nd and 104th places. Lucas Robinson finished in 169th place with a PR of 28:46, and Asa Scofield ran the course in 32:25 for 172nd.
“Nearly everyone had a season-best or set a new PR this week,” said coach Marty Casey. “It is great to see the hard work pay off for our kids!”
Meeker has a busy week, racing at the Rifle Creek Golf Course on Tuesday, and competing in the Anna Banana Invitational at Snooks Bottom in Fruita on Saturday, with those races starting at 9 a.m.
