The varsity wrestlers earned letters and a handful of additional Cowboys earned special recognition.
Notably, Judd Harvey earned Most Valuable, Most Dedicated for the second year, Most Wins and for a second time in his career Most Pins.
“Judd deserves all of his recognition and worked towards each and every award he has received here this evening,” commented Watt.
Harvey was the fourth Cowboy in history to win three state titles and along the way he went undefeated, had 38 pins and 51 wins.
Buzz Clatterbaugh earned a new award, Fewest Points Surrendered on the season. Clatterbaugh won the championship at 190 pounds, was 49-1 and only gave up 10 points along the way.
Cade Blunt, the third state champion for the 2024 Championship team, earned awards for Most Near Falls and Most Tech Falls.
“Cade had one of the best state tournaments I have ever seen,” said Wyatt.
Both Blunt and Harvey finished with a perfect 30-point state tournament score.
Jake Blazon earned Most Improved in what Watt called “four years in the making.”
Clay Crawford earned Most TakeDowns and Most Reversals in the road to his fifth place state tournament finish.
Finally, Coy Richardson earned Most Reversals, in his senior year with the Cowboys.
The 2024 Colorado State Champions hosted their annual awards banquet Sunday. Head Coach JC Watt and Assistant Coach Carl Padilla commented on this year’s team’s success as a product of work in the room, dedication by wrestlers and coaches, and a champion mentality.
