meeker | Meeker Cross Country traveled to Kremmling for the West Grand Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 2. We only had four runners on the holiday weekend, with Haylee Steele our sole competitor in the girls’ race. She finished in 33:40 for 28th place. The boys’ race had Aidan Tapia as Meeker’s first runner to the line, 7th place overall at 23:07. Cameron Hanberg, in 17th place, had another great improvement over his previous time on this course. His 25:48 was more than six minutes faster than last year. Remy Broussard ran the course in 32:44 — taking more than five minutes off of last year’s time — and achieving a new personal record. He was 26th place overall.
The Coal Ridge Invitational was held on Friday, Sept. 8, with Meeker in attendance, at VIX Park in New Castle. Steele ran the girls race in 30:11 for 37th place. Tapia, again the first Cowboy finisher in the boys’ race, had his best time this season, at 20:40, and 19th place. Hanberg set a new PR at this course, 31st place at 23:06. Broussard also PR’d, dropping more than two minutes from his previous best, at 32:01, and 41st.
Meeker will be at the Siena Valley Club in Gypsum on Saturday morning for Eagle Valley’s Invitational, with high school races starting at 10:45 a.m.
