Grandpa Willard passed away suddenly at the Rangely Hospital on Aug. 18, 2011. He was 95.
Shooting range schedule
MEEKER | The Meeker Sportsman’s Club Range will be closed Aug. 26 through Sept. 25 and Oct. 13 through Nov. 30 except for sight-in days. Sight-in days will be held from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Oct. 13-14, Oct. 20-21, Nov. 3-4 and Nov. 15.
Storms over area keep fire crews busy
RBC I About two dozen wildland fires occurred over the weekend beginning Friday afternoon. Lightning was the cause of all the fires except for one which was a vehicle fire.

RBC I “We’ve been working on this process for more than a year,” Rio Blanco County commissioner chairman Kai Turner said of the resolution to streamline the permitting process for drilling well pads.
Pilot presents slideshow Aug. 25

RDH ready to break ground
RANGELY I Groundbreaking ceremonies for the new Rangely District Hospital (RDH) are scheduled for Sept. 16, and construction of the $36 million facility will begin Sept. 19.

The field of players in the annual Meeker Men’s Club tournament was not very deep but the competition for the title and a year of bragging rights as the men’s club champ was stiff.

RBC I The highly anticipated softball game, twice postponed, between Rio Blanco County’s two undefeated teams never came to fruition but one team did entered the season-ending tournament undefeated.
