MEEKER | The Colorado State High School Rodeo Finals were held in Craig over the Memorial Day weekend and Meeker locals Jessy Pelloni and Leah Wood attended.
These girls competed on the Colorado High School Rodeo circuit traveling all over the state to compete, put in many hours and miles. Pelloni and Wood qualified for the National High School Rodeo Finals set to take place in Rock Springs, Wyoming, in July.
Pelloni’s outstanding performance had her winning all three go rounds, the average buckle and the title of Colorado High School Barrel Racing Champion. This earned her back-to-back state championships in barrel racing.
Wood had a great rodeo as well. She participated in barrels, team roping and breakaway roping. In the breakaway, she placed ninth in the first round and second in the short go. Wood’s hard work paid off and earned her the Colorado High School Breakaway Reserve Champion.
Pelloni and Wood would like to thank everyone who supported them.
