NOTICE OF PROPOSED DECISION
The Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety proposes to approve Technical Revision Application No. 72 (TR-72) for the Deserado Mine (Permit No. C-1981-018), submitted by Blue Mountain Energy, Inc.  Blue Mountain Energy, Inc. (BME) proposes this Technical Revision for the addition of a refuse disposal area, RP-A, to the Deserado Mine Permit.  The revision also proposes the constuction of the associated topsoil and subsoil stockpiles.  BME has included information regarding proposed sediment control stuctures for RP-A.
The Deserado Mine is a/an underground coal mine located in Moffat, Rio Blanco County, approximately 7 miles NE of Rangely, Colorado.  Coal interest is federal, and the surface affected is federal and private land.  The permit area encompasses approximately 13,645.01 acres.
This proposed decision is based on a finding that the proposed operation will comply with all requirements of the Colorado Surface Coal Mining Reclamation Act, Section 3433101, et seq., C.R.S., and the regulations promulgated thereunder.
Copies of the proposed decision, including stipulations, are on file for public inspection at the Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety, Room 215, Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado 80203.  Persons with an interest that may be adversely affected by the proposed decision may request a formal hearing before the Mined Land Reclamation Board on the proposed decision.  Such request must be made within ten (10) days of the initial publication of this notice, must be in writing, and must state with reasonable specificity the reasons for the request and the objections to the proposed decision.

Notice is hereby given that on Tuesday November 26, 2019 the Rio Blanco Board of County Commissioners will hold a public hearing beginning at 11:30 a.m. at the Rio Blanco County Historic Courthouse, 555 Main Street, 3rd Floor Commissioner Meeting Room,  Meeker, Colorado to consider the following:
Grove Minor Subdivision PSUB-0004-19.  The applicant is requesting to subdivide a 37 acre parcel of ground into 2 lots. The proposed subdivision is located at 10192 County Road 8, Meeker, in Section 25, T1S, 93W.

Notice is hereby given that a copy of the Y2020 proposed budget for the General Fund, Capital Expenditure Fund, Road & Bridge Fund, Public Health Agency Fund, Human Services Fund, Capital Improvement Plan Fund, Use Tax Fund, Impact Fee Trust Fund, Conservation Trust Fund, Solid Waste Landfill Fund, Weed and Pest Control Fund, Communications Fund, Piceance Creek Pest Control District, Lower White River Pest Control District, Fairfield Complex Fund, Central Service Fund, Fleet Management Fund, Contingent Fund, and the County Capital Improvement Trust Fund has been filed in the office of the County Clerk and Recorder, 555 Main Street, Meeker, Colorado and the County Clerk and Recorder office, Rangely Town Hall, 209 E. Main Street, Rangely, Colorado, and are open for public inspection 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. on normal work days.
Such proposed budgets will be considered at public hearings of the Board of County Commissioners the week of November 4, 2019, Rio Blanco County Historic Courthouse, 3rd Floor-Commissioners Meeting Room, 555 Main Street, Meeker, Colorado. OPPORTUNITY
The Town of Meeker is seeking letters of interest from qualified individuals for a position on the Meeker Planning Commission.  The position will be filled by an appointment made by the Board of Trustees at its regular Board Meeting to be held November 5, 2019.  Letters of interest must be received at Town Hall, 345 Market Street, Meeker, Colorado 81641 no later than 5:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 31, 2019.  Qualifications for the Planning Commission member position are 1) Registered voter within the Town of Meeker, 2) Eighteen years of age or older, and 3) must have resided in the Town of Meeker for at least twelve consecutive months immediately preceding the date of appointment.  The length of appointment will be until May 2021 at which time the appointed individual may seek another 3-year reappointment from the Town Board.   • The Cowboys played in their first golf tournament in the spring at Chipeta, “it was a bit of a cloudy and windy day but it was awesome to see some grass and a golf course,” commented head coach Amanda Back. Vivian Brown, pictured on the left, broke 100 and shot a 94 and Jayda May second from right shot a 99. From the far right, excluding those that have been mentioned, Averee Woodward, Joelle Soler, Mia Pinzon, Aurora Stalling, and Kailynn Watson all played scramble. This was Pinzon’s, Stalling’s and Watson’s first tournament as Meeker High School girl golfers. “It’s going to be a great season,” ended Back.

  • Members of the Rio Blanco Golf Association got a jump on spring this past week as volunteers shoveled and blew the snow off the greens. The winter’s snow and ice layers suffocate the fragile bent grass putting surfaces and getting the snow off allows Mother Nature to start her healing process earlier.
“For 50 years I’ve waited to see Meeker’s greens come out this nice,” said Jim Cook, who is returning to help at the course.” Hats off to Hunter and Matt Fellows who did an excellent job applying the snow mold preventative last fall which has made all the difference this year.”
Board members and volunteers are very hopeful that this will be a turnaround year for the local 9-hole course which plans an early April opening, weather permitting.
  • The 2024 Colorado State Champions hosted their annual awards banquet Sunday. Head Coach JC Watt and Assistant Coach Carl Padilla commented on this year’s team’s success as a product of work in the room, dedication by wrestlers and coaches, and a champion mentality. The Cowboys played in their first golf tournament in the spring at Chipeta, “it was a bit of a cloudy and windy day but it was awesome to see some grass and a golf course,” commented head coach Amanda Back. Vivian Brown, pictured on the left, broke 100 and shot a 94 and Jayda May second from right shot a 99. From the far right, excluding those that have been mentioned, Averee Woodward, Joelle Soler, Mia Pinzon, Aurora Stalling, and Kailynn Watson all played scramble. This was Pinzon’s, Stalling’s and Watson’s first tournament as Meeker High School girl golfers. “It’s going to be a great season,” ended Back.

Members of the Rio Blanco Golf Association got a jump on spring this past week as volunteers shoveled and blew the snow off the greens. The winter’s snow and ice layers suffocate the fragile bent grass putting surfaces and getting the snow off allows Mother Nature to start her healing process earlier.
“For 50 years I’ve waited to see Meeker’s greens come out this nice,” said Jim Cook, who is returning to help at the course.” Hats off to Hunter and Matt Fellows who did an excellent job applying the snow mold preventative last fall which has made all the difference this year.”
Board members and volunteers are very hopeful that this will be a turnaround year for the local 9-hole course which plans an early April opening, weather permitting.
