ARRESTS
8/24/2025-A 28 year-old male was arrested by Meeker PD for Driving Under the Influence. He was issued a summons and released to a sober party.
9/1/2025– A 66 year-old male was arrested by Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office for Prohibited Use of a Weapon and Menacing. He remains in custody.
9/1/2025– A 41 year-old female was arrested by Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office for Domestic Violence and 2nd Degree Criminal Tampering. She remains in custody.
CALL SUMMARIES
There were a total of 9 calls regarding mudslides or debris on several different County Roads.
8/24/2025 @ 1:19 am. A routine traffic stop by Meeker PD turned into a DUI arrest. The driver was taken into custody, issued a summons and released to a sober party.
8/24/2025 @ 11:16 am. A caller reported a vehicle that was unable to maintain lanes and brake checking. A deputy located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on County Road 4. The driver was issued a warning for weaving.
8/25/2025 @ 12:23 am. A bear-y determined visitor at Southfork Campground prompted a camper to call the Sheriff’s Office. A bear had been trying to get into the caller’s camp trailer and hitting the sides of the camper for a couple of nights. The quieter the caller tried to be, the more aggressive the bear would get. Colorado Parks and Wildlife responded and set out a bear trap.
8/27/2025 @ 3:32 pm. A Forest Protection Officer caught a male party taking trees off Forest Service property. A deputy responded and issued a citation for Driving with No Proof of Insurance and Habitual Traffic Offender since he had been driving his vehicle to commit the crime he was called in for. The Forest Protection Officer handled the removing forest property crime.
8/29/2025 @ 12:31 pm. A male party called 911 about a noise complaint occurring at his out-of-state AirBnB. During the 15 minute call, approximately 6 seconds included an unplanned noise event. The noise was assessed as biologically originated and non-threatening. We were glad to have not been in his presence.
8/29/2025 @ 4:39 pm. Fast, Furious and Fined Twice! A traffic complaint involving a white Mercedes was called into the Communications Center for passing in a no-passing zone and speeding on Hwy. 139. The vehicle was stopped by a deputy and was issued a summons for speeding. Shortly after, the same driver was stopped again by the Dinosaur Marshall’s office and issued another summons. We wonder if they learned a lesson.
