RIO HAPPENINGS: OCT. 8-14, 2023

ARRESTS

A male party was arrested on October 10, 2023 for a protection order violation. He was released on October 11, 2023 on a PR bond. 

A male party was arrested on October 11, 2023 for a protection order violation and criminal trespass. He was released on October 12, 2023.

CALL SUMMARIES

10/8/2023 @ 11:20 am. Items were taken from a vehicle that was parked on Garfield St. in town limits of Meeker. No suspect information was known.

10/8/2023 @ 3:34 pm. At mile-marker 32 on Highway 64 a vehicle was run off the road by a driver that was under the influence of alcohol. The driver of the suspect vehicle kept driving while throwing beer cans out of the vehicle. He was later stopped by CSP Trooper and deputies. Colorado State Patrol is handling the investigation. There were no injuries.

10/9/2023 @ 6:15 am. Meeker Volunteer Fire Dept and the Sheriff’s Office responded to a structure fire on County Road 36. No injuries were reported. The fire department cleared the scene at 9:22 am.

10/10/2023 @ 2:40 pm. Rio Blanco County Road and Bridge Dept. reported several signs that were taken from County Road 7, County Road 8 and County Road 30.

10/11/2023 @ 10:00 am. In the Fowler Peak area, hunters were cutting firewood and one of them cut their fingers off. They were able to make it off of the mountain and met up with Meeker Volunteer Fire Dept.

10/11/2023 @ 5:16 pm. A semi loaded with hay crashed in the construction zone on Highway 64 near the 54 mile-marker. There were no injuries. Part of the highway had to be shut down to get the semi back in an upright position.

10/12/2023 @ 11:37 pm. A one vehicle rollover accident occurred at the 10 mile-marker on County Road 7. The single occupant was injured although did not want to be transported to the hospital.

10/13/2023 @ 2:36 am. A one vehicle rollover accident occured approximately a half mile up County Road 4.  The driver was suspected of being intoxicated. The driver was injured and transported to the hospital.  CSP arrested the driver for DUI and released him to a sober party.

10/13/2023 @ 7:55 am. Several items were taken from a vehicle that was parked in the 500 block of Market St.

10/14/2023 @ 9:07 pm. A one vehicle rollover on County Road 8 claimed the life of one occupant and injured another.
