4-H Council

The regular monthly meeting of the Meeker 4-H Council was held on May 5, 2011, at the Extension Office Kitchen.

For the birds …

For the past six years, Mary Cunningham, who works at the U.S. Forest Service office in Meeker, has celebrated International Migrating Bird month by taking Meeker Elementary School students on field trips to watch and spot birds in the area.

Near record snowfall

The White River is not flooding yet but the near-record snowfalls this season could result in major spring run-off. Rio Blanco County emergency manager John Hutchins said the town and county have prepared a plan of action and all departments are ready for a possible high water event.

Fate of church in limbo

Michele Morgan, who is spearheading the plan to relocate the century-old original Methodist church building, requested a public hearing to approve a two-phase plan for moving the building to Ute Park. PMC launches women’s therapy

With a state of the art computer-driven biofeedback system, pelvic floor electrical stimulation unit and a specifically designed exercise program from a qualified physical therapist, local help is now available for issues with urinary incontinence, pelvic floor pain and problems during pregnancy and postpartum.

Everyone marimba!

Fourth- and fifth-graders from Meeker Elementary School have spent a couple hours a week with music teacher Anna Todd and learned to plan the marimbas.
