Soup kitchen opens with Thanksgiving

MEEKER I Traditionally, a free community dinner has been held at Holy Family Catholic Church on Thanksgiving. This year, the free Thanksgiving dinner will be offered again, from noon to 2:30 p.m. at Holy Family, 889 Park.

Proud of service to his country

MEEKER I He served his country overseas and spent most of his professional career on the West Coast, but Meeker was always home. Eighty-five-year-old Vern Amick was born here, left when he was 15, and didn’t return, at least permanently, until almost 70 years later.
