MEEKER I The school bells haven’t started ringing at Meeker High School yet but referee whistles were heard in both gyms last Saturday as the lady Cowboys hosted scrimmages with Grand Valley and Moffat County.

MEEKER I The Lady Cowboy volleyball team bounced back from a homecoming loss to win the final match of the regular season last Saturday and finish as the Western Slope League’s No. 5 seed.

MEEKER I For a second week in a row, the Meeker High School varsity volleyball team split matches, played against league opponents. Meeker lost to the West Grand Mustangs in Kremmling last Friday before defeating the Eagles in Paonia the following day.

MEEKER I “We played much, much better,” Meeker volleyball coach Christy Atwood said of her team’s matches in Hayden last Saturday. The Lady Cowboys lost to the host team in a non-league game, before pushing the defending league champions to five games in a losing effort.
