Letter: Thankful parent

Words fall short when I try to describe what has gone into moving the Meeker Elementary School classrooms. I am just so amazed at how the Meeker School District staff has rallied, worked together and remained positive during this time.

Letter: More helicopters

On Aug. 6, 2011, the U.S. lost 30 special forces troops, including 22 Navy SEALS, in a helicopter shot down over Afghanistan. These people were the elite of our military who have trained for these missions over many years.

Letter: No Dutch ovens

I regret I’ll not be able to bring dutch oven desserts to accompany the Rangely Museum Society’s Ice Cream Social this Sunday afternoon, Sept. 4. Last year I was joined by Bill & Mike Zadra and we had a great time sharing our dutch oven creations.

Letter: Humble thanks

New Eden Pregnancy Care Services, located at 345 Main St. in Meeker, humbly thanks those who donated to the yard sale. $1,160 was given to help this important service to help our women and their babies!

Letter: Bounty on Coyotes

The deer herd in Rio Blanco County is the lowest it has been in the last 50 years since my family has been processing game. I will admit there were too many deer in the ‘50s for the range to support along with cows, sheep and yes, wild horses.

Loose Ends: The meet and greet

The phrase “meet and greet” is now one of the most overused as many social gatherings use it as the main draw for people to get together.

Letter: Officials keeping residents in mind

Rio Blanco County is demonstrating it is serious about creating jobs. First and foremost, protecting the health and welfare of residents in Rio Blanco County is top priority for county government. And to this end, the Rio Blanco County commissioners do a heck of a job.
