Westlake 6A High School in Utah was thrilled last Thursday when senior Celeste DeToles, sporting a 134-4 record became their first four-time state wrestling champion in the 135-pound class. Celeste is known for her toughness and quick pins, pinning many opponents in less than 60 seconds.
Kaizen, her sophomore brother, wrestling at 165 pounds, had injury issues and was sidelined for five weeks before the state tournament. Against staggering odds, Kaizen put on a truly gutsy performance, nearly beating the 2023 state champion, a heartbreaking loss. He remained a warrior battling through wrestlebacks and Saturday was awarded fifth place.
Celeste and Kaizen are the children of proud parents Kaifah and Amber (Campbell) DeToles who have racked up thousands of miles taking their children to many, many wrestling tournaments. Danny and Caryl Campbell are extremely proud grandparents.
Amber is a 1993 graduate of Meeker High School. Her favorite teacher was legendary coach, Bill Turner. Amber’s father, Danny, graduated with the class of 1966 and was a friend of Bill’s.
Danny, his daughters Kila and Amber, along with their mom Caryl would like to extend heartfelt congratulations to Meeker Cowboys’ head wrestling coach, JC Watt, the assistants and his team of tough wrestlers, who with time running out captured the division 2A Colorado state title, electrifying the crowd!
