4-H Panther Country meets

RANGELY I The Rangley Panther 4-H Country met at the annex building April 26 and had their monthly meeting with 17 members attending. Before the meeting the club played the gossip game to see how rumors spread. The Clover Buds met 45 minutes before the meeting to decorate cameras and learn how to take pictures.
President Kaylee Mecham called the meeting to order and Zane Cordrey and Abigail Winston led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance and the 4-H pledge. Tristan Hall gave the treasurer’s report. The club voted on two representatives for community council. This year’s livestock judging council representative is Raelynn Norman and the club council representative is AJ Gardener. The club will be repeating the community service project in the peewee arena at the horse show where they will serve ice cream. The club agreed to cover half the cost for any senior in the club wanting to go to June conference. The club approved to pay for wood supplies for the new stalls at the community pens. Leader Bonnie Long taught the group about grooming and training your animals for fair.
Clover Bud mentors are needed June 2 to teach judging and using hand cameras; June 28 to do crafts for a booth and select the best photo; July 19 to build a candling box for the chickens; and July 26 to teach individual showmanship skills.
Stock Show University and Cowboy Classic will be June 22-23 and Casper Camp is June 25-27. The Panther Country 4-H banquet will be sometime in June at Elks Park with food and games. A showmanship and grooming clinic will be Thursday, May 3 at 7 p.m. There are several judging contests coming up including Kiowa on May 4, Montrose on May 17, and Gunnison on May 19. Anyone wanting to be in Rio Blanco’s “Got Talent” for the Colorado State Fair must be signed up by July 12.
There is a new award called “The Torie” for Panther Country members of all age divisions who can create the best handmade thank you card with a photo. This begins on June 1 and the awards will be given on achievement night.
Tristan Hall, Destineé Bland, Raelynn Norman and Kaylee Mecham all attended the Cattlewoman’s Public Speaking Contest. Congratulations to Kaylee Mecham who won the contest and will be representing Northwestern Colorado.
