Rangely hosted the Panther Invitational—their yearly pee-wee wrestling tournament—last Saturday. Forty-four Meeker Cowboys wrestled, 34 placed in the top four. Placing first were Lucas Simpson, Toren Gates, Henry Creecy, Dillon Hobbs and Levi Caulfield. Placing second, Boomer Sjoerdsma, Radnar Larson, Eli Grant, Deegan Moody, Tilden Gates, Miles Franklin, Bryant Turner, Bow Muxlow, Dawson Richardson and Casey Brink. Consolation Bracket champs, earning third place, were Mattaio Padilla, Gael Rodriguez, Lyam Richardson, Kael Overton, Preton Amick, Holden Gallob, Tucker Chinn, Domonic Wyatt, Joshua Smith and Clay Randall. Placing fourth was Victor Villalpando, Dax Moody, Myles Dupire, Corbin Grant, Jordan Simpson, Jake Grieser, Thomas Theos, Elijah Rundberg and Trevor Keys. “This was a great first tournament,” said head coach Carl Padilla, “We had a few kids that did not place, but all of them wrestled well.” The next tournament is in Hayden on Saturday.
