BMS eighth-graders win big, Rangely loses close game to Steamboat Sailors

RANGELY I There were some close games last week involving the county’s junior high basketball teams.
But there was one blowout — and it was a whopper. Meeker’s Barone Middle School A team won big — 60-9 — against Craig, in what its coach called the eighth-grade girls’ best game of the season.
The Rangely eighth-graders — all seven of them — lost by one 19-18 to Steamboat Springs.
Meeker’s eighth-grade B team lost a close one, too, 21-20, while the seventh-grade A team won a tight game 29-26.
Rangely’s seventh-graders lost to Steamboat 19-14 in the A game.
This week, Rangely hosts Craig, while Meeker will host Steamboat.
