MEEKER | Last weekend the Barone Middle School running club participated in a cross country meet at Eagle Valley. “Wyatt Rollins (seventh grade), Oliver Holmes (eighth grade), and Gabe Smithers (eighth grade) all ran very well,” said head coach Kris Casey. For middle school it was a large meet; 109 boys total were in the race, running a two-mile course. The Cowboys placed 12th as a team out of 15 teams. Smithers was the first Cowboy to cross the finish line in 28th place with a time of 16 minutes nine seconds; Holmes followed close behind in 44th place with a time of 16:57, and Wyatt placed 61st with a time of 18:13. “I am very proud of our runners and am excited to see how they progress,” wrapped-up Casey. The Barone Middle School running club will get to compete again in two weeks in Craig.
