The Meeker Cowboys cross-country team took the short trip to Rifle for its last regular season meet. The girls ran first, and Meeker’s Julia Eskelson finished in 16th place with a time of 21:48. Briar Meszaros, left, was the second Cowboy to compete the course, and she did so in 23:19 for 39th place. The boys’ race followed, and Meeker’s Marshal Pool had a solid showing with a 7th-place finish and a time of 17:56. Matthew Beck was the next Cowboy across the line with a 21:06 and 75th place. Meeker’s next three runners were close at 21:12, 21:15, and 21:24. Christopher Strate, Clay Anderson and Pake Burke claimed those times, along with 82nd, 85th and 90th places, respectively. Rounding out the Meeker team were Josh Cochran, in at 22:37 and 112th place, and Alex Murray, finishing 141st in 28:54. On the right side of the photo is Rangely’s Phalon Osborn.
Results were not available for the Aspen cross country meet on Saturday but several runners from Meeker and Rangely competed, including Rio Blanco County’s best: seniors Caleb Lange of Meeker and Tanner Nielsen of Rangely.
