The recognition of outstanding faculty was held on Feb. 13, 2013, as part of the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education meeting at the Community College of Aurora. Activities included an awards ceremony and luncheon. Professor Jay McLaughlin was graduated from Indiana University in 1999, completed a post doc at the National Institute of Standards and Technology and came to Colorado Northwestern Community College in 2004. In addition to teaching chemistry and mathematics, he has served as advisor to Phi Theta Kappa and student senate, and as the secretary for faculty senate. He has worked on implementing a website for both chemistry and mathematics aimed at giving students extra help on those topics. In his “free” time he enjoys the many wonders of Colorado: rafting, spelunking, hiking, mountain climbing and horseback riding.
